|Comments||The Taylor 314ce boasts the Grand Auditorium body design that gives Taylor guitars their full, rich tone with plenty of projection. The body is built with Sapele back and sides, which shares tonal properties with mahogany, and a traditional Sitka spruce top. The Venetian cutaway provides clear access to the upper frets, and the Expression System electronics let you plug in to any convenient amp, PA or mixer channel strip.
Taylor’s neck joint design is one of the most interesting advancements in modern guitar making. The traditional dovetail neck joint is very effective at promoting energy transmission between the body and neck, but it can be tricky to create and, after some period of time (usually decades), it’s going to require rebuilding – and that’s skilled and expensive work. Taylor has taken another approach and the inevitable neck reset can be done in a short time, at a reasonable cost – but without compromising the tone transmission within the instrument.
