Neck Maple neck with bound ebony fingerboard, with zero fret. Neo-Classic or ‘thumbnail’ markers.
Frets original frets in good condition.
Body Maple laminate, bound double-cutaway body with painted F-holes, rear access plate and snap-on cover. There is a small amount of binding separation on the back in the upper cutaway, but no ‘binding rot’.
Finish Original walnut laquer finish in good condition.
Hardware/electronics Twin Filter ‘Tron’s with pickup selector, tone switch and standby switch; master and individual volume controls; bar bridge and Bigsby B6G tailpiece. Mute mechanism and back plate with snap-on protector. Gold Grover tuners with large buttons. Non-original Gretsch plexi pickguard.
Playability/Action This instrument has a zero fret so the action is low and consistent in the low positions. It plays well on the rest of the neck too, and has a clear, solid, twangy tone.
Case Original case included.
Comments Here we have a great early Baldwin-Era Gretsch Country Gent, built just after Baldwin took over. It’s in good overall condition and is ready to play. The padding for the mute has deteriorated but the mechanism still works; replacing the pad would make it fully functional.
