Gretsch 6071 Bass 1968 (consignment) No Longer Available

Serial Number N/A, built 1968.
Pricing $1650.00 CND with original case. No Longer Available
Neck Maple neck with unbound rosewood fingerboard, dot markers and zero fret. 29″ scale length. Gretsch logo plate on headstock.
Frets Zero fret, 22 frets in total, minor wear. Strung with flatwounds, so frets wear less rapidly.
Body Laminated maple body, 16″ wide and 2″ thick; rear access plate (with pad). Top is bound.
Finish Walnut nitrocellulose gloss finish in reasonable condition, painted-on F-holes.
Hardware/electronics Van Ghent tuners, single Super ‘Tron pickup master volume, tone switch, mute and standby switch. Mute is missing the pad but the mechanism works. Space control bridge and G-cut tailpiece.
Playability/Action Plays well and cleanly; the 29″ scale makes for a comfortable bass with a shorter reach.
Case Original case included.
Comments Gretsch basses are fairly unusual; they couldn’t overcome the Fender juggernaut, and with the exponential rise of stage volume levels as amplification evolved, hollowbody instruments were a risk. This is a good-condition example of a single-pickup 6071 bass.
