Neck Bolt-on Maple neck with bound rosewood fingerboard and dot markers. VOX logo on headstock, ‘Made in Italy by Vox’ on back of head.
Frets Original frets, including zero frets, with minor play wear.
Body Classic Teard-Drop shape, very few dings or scratches.
Finish Original gloss sunburst finish in excellent condition.
Hardware/electronics All original hardware in nickel with very little corrosion. Even the original mute mechanism works! Three single-coil pickups with 3-way selector switch and three original knobs – neck tone, middle tone, master volume. As was common to many European instruments of the time, the full-clockwise position for the tones has maximum effect – opposite to standard Fender / Gibson wiring. Bigsby-type tailpiece featuring individual forward rollers, with original roller bridge including cover and fully operational built-in lever-style mute.
Playability/Action Plays well and can be easily set up to the player’s requirements. Currently strung with flatwounds.
Case Original case in very good condition.
Comments The Vox Mark VI was introduced in 1963, with 6 and 12 string versions and the bass made famous by Bill Wyman; it was . This example is in excellent, original condition and includes strap and Vox polishing cloth.Vox instruments were originally built in England, but by 1965 demand -especially from North America – far outstripped Vox’s ability to supply, so they contracted with the EKO plant in Italy to produce Vox instruments. They were finally discontinued in the 1970’s.
