Comments This 2002 Ibanez Artist AR2000 Prestige is a great illustration of the quality level Ibanez is capable of. Ibanez makes a lot of different guitars, and their Artist series is near the top. The AR2000 Prestige was built between 1998 and 2003, when it was superceded by the AR3000. This example is in great condition, with most of the wear appearing on the plated parts (in particular the bass edge of the bridge pickup). The back contours make it very comfortable to play, and the neck shaping gives full access to the upper registers. It plays extremely well and is well suited to a wide style of playing; it’s dressy enough to fit into the poshest spots, too.
Serial Number F0208031 Built in the Fuji-gen plant as production number 8031 in 2002.
Pricing $1,200 CAD with Voyageur gig bag.
Neck Maple neck with bound rosewood fingerboard. Abalone dot position markers, Ibanez logo and flowerpot design inlaid on rosewood headplate in faux pearl. 24.75 inch scale length.
Frets Original medium-jumbo frets with negligible wear.
Body Mahogany double cutaway, contoured body with bound flame maple top.
Finish Original ‘Vintage violin’ poly finish in very good condition.
Hardware/electronics All original hardware; gold coloured Gotoh gears with pearlescent buttons. Gold covers on Ibanez Super 58 pickups, rosewood/maple laminate pickup rings. Gold locking Gibraltar II adjustable bridge and Quik-Change II stop tailpiece.
Playability/Action Like many Ibanez Artist guitars, this plays very well. It plays cleanly at a normal action height, and the cutaways and bevels make it very comfortable. There’s plenty of room to adjust the action to the player’s requirements.
Case Voyageur gigbag included.
