2009 Gretsch Chet Atkins G6121 Roundup (consignment) SOLD

Comments Originally introduced in 1954, the Gretsch Chet Atkins G6121 Roundup exemplifies the country and western aesthetic, or at least Fred Gretsch’s concept of it. The orange finish, the G-brand on the top, tooled leather trim on the sides, the steer and cactus engraving on the inlays, and the twang – it’s all there.

The Roundup is based on the Gretsch ‘Jet’ body, using a chambered back with an arched top; this adds resonance without also adding feedback, and also removes weight.

This 2009 Gretsch Chet Atkins G6121 Roundup is as new; it’s never really been played at all. The aluminum Bigsby bridge adds quite a bit of brightness to the twang.

Serial Number JT09020473; this breaks down as built in Japan (J), at the Terada plant (T), during 2009 (09), and February (02) and is the 473rd guitar built during that month (0473).
Pricing $1,999.99 CAD with original case. SOLD
Neck Mahogany neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, mother of pearl block markers with western motif engraving, Gretsch logo and steer head inlay on the peghead.
Frets Original frets with no wear. This instrument uses a fairly narrow but high wire, so there is lots of traction for bending.
Body Chambered mahogany ‘Jet’ style body with arched maple top.
Finish Classic Gretsch Orange gloss poly finish with G-Brand on the top, tooled leather trim tacked to the sides. The finish is in 10/10 condition.
Hardware/electronics All original; DynaSonic DeArmond style pickups, master volume, pickup selector, individual pickup volumes and master tone control. Gold plated open Grover tuners, pickup covers, Bigsby, bridge height adjustment wheels, strap pins, and G-arrow knobs.
Playability/Action This just plays great. The action is good, the weight is light, and it’s really fun to play.
Case Original white Gretsch ‘Cowboy Case’ included.
