The Deering Deluxe Banjo: Now with a New Vintage Style inlay package!
My favourite Deering banjo just got even better!
Deering has upgraded the professional workhorse Deering Deluxe banjo with a new “vintage” style inlay package.
A complex blend of white and gold pearl shell with intricate engraving provides a classic Turn-of-the-Century detailed look that we see in old Vega/Fairbanks style banjos, topped off by a fancy peghead inlay with 22 separate piece of inlay and the engraved Deering Deluxe banner.
The Deering Deluxe banjo is an elegant banjo — simple and understated, with beautiful woods and finish throughout and with a classic pearl “vintage style” inlay pattern. It is a truly professional quality and fully American-made banjo.
Deering Deluxe banjos are built around Deering’s famed ’06 (aught six) sand-cast, silicone bronze tone ring. This incredible tone ring is fitted to a red-maple rim and the unique Deering extra heavy flange. Deering’s thick flange contributes to the full and round bass response and added upper fret sustain and string balance that we have come to expect from Deering Banjos.
The Deering extra shallow resonator serves to tighten up bass response, enhance harmonic clarity and improve sustain as one plays up the neck.
The Deering Deluxe model features Honduras Mahogany neck, ebony fretboard and mahogany resonator for the fat, round and warm tone typical of Mahogany banjos.
It is fitted with Deering Deluxe Planetary tuners and a geared 5th peg plus a Deering premium head and Deering custom designed tailpiece. Deering makes their own superb bridges from select and seasoned maple.
Deering necks are slim and have a shallow C-shape profile. Wonderful for technical players who want an electric guitar feel when they play up the neck.
The banjo is completely setup with standard action at 5/64 and head tension tuned to G#. Fret level is carefully checked all banjos leave our shop in fully playable condition.
These banjos are factory strung with new D’addario light gauge strings — but we will install whatever gauge you prefer and setup according to your right hand attack and action expectations. I have been building, restoring and servicing banjos since 1977 and we have 6 full-time luthiers on staff; all the skills and expertise needed to setup your banjo to suit you.
5th string capo tacks will be installed at no charge if desired.
Note: New from Deering: the Deering Maple Deluxe
The Deering Deluxe Banjo is now also available with Maple neck and resonator at the same price as the Mohogany model. In effect, you can get the same tonal characteristics as the Deering Maple Blossom model at the lower price of the Deluxe model.
