1972 Gibson ES-345TD Sunburst (consignment) SOLD

Gibson’s ES thinline series has been very popular since it was introduced in 1958. The Gibson ES-345TD is the ‘mid grade’ version – it has the fancier electronics with varitone and stereo wiring and gold plating, but not the extra binding, inlay and ebony fingerboard of the ES-355. To differentiate the neck from the ES-335, the ES-345 has split-parallelogram position markers.

This example of the Gibson ES-345TD (the TD standing for Thinline body, Double pickups) is in good physical condition with no breaks, little scratching and one small chip at the top of the back of the head. It’s in good playing condition; it was professionally refretted and there isn’t a lot of wear on the frets.

Typical of guitars made during the Norlin period, the pickups have GIBSON embossed on the covers. The parts are all original, and the original Stereo cable is included. The guitar works as mono if a mono cable is used, but if the stereo cable is used, the pickups can be directed to separate amplifiers. At the time, the ES-335 and ES-345 didn’t get stop tailpieces, so the trapeze tailpiece was used.

A non-original hardshell case is included.

Serial Number: 682799, built during 1972 at Gibson’s plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Pricing: $3,499.99 with non-original hardshell case
