Ramirez Model 1a C-650 Traditional Spruce
Ramirez guitars have been the benchmark for professional level concert classical instruments almost since the 12 year old Jose Ramirez I began his apprenticeship in 1870! Today the rich tradition of Ramirez Guitars is carried on by Amalia Ramirez in Madrid, Spain.
Amalia was born in 1955 to Jose Ramirez III and apprenticed guitar building beside her brother, Jose Ramirez IV. She has been in charge of every aspect of the shop since the death of Jose IV in June of 2000 … checking each and every instrument at all stages of the construction process!
The Twelfth Fret is proud to be the distributor for Ramirez Professional level instruments in Canada! We always have an excellent stock of both the Professional Series of concert-level instruments, as well as the SP and NE-series instruments. Today we are featuring our first 1a C-650 Traditional Spruce top. This magnificent sounding guitar features a bookmatched German spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, cypress interior side liners, and an ebony fingerboard. This instrument has an authoritative voice with all of the nuance, tonal complexity, dynamic range and lush “Spanish” overall tonality that we have come to anticipate from the esteemed Ramirez workshop!
