Eastman T185MX

Eastman_T185MX_Jn9

Yes, the T185MX has a lot going for it in the looks department. The compact 15″ lower bout dimension, the rich sunburst nitro lacquer finish, bound f-holes, multiple top & back purfling and the gold plated Kent Armstrong designed pickups all lend a definite aura of class … but that is not the main appeal of this instrument.

These versatile guitars neatly span the distance between a fine hollow body archtop and the classic center block thinline. What the T185MX has that really sets it apart from other “335″ style instruments is its partial sustain block. While most other double cutaway thinlines have a full length internal block, Eastman has opted for a block just under the bridge & stud tailpiece area. This allows a lot more of the hollowbody tone to be heard, but gives excellent feedback rejection … the best of both worlds.
