| Comments | Maurer guitars were built by Larson brothers in Chicago. The 593 was the top of the line parlor guitar, and the tree of life was their most elaborate inlay.
This is a very special and unusual guitar; not many were made and fewer survived. |

| Neck | Mahogany neck with rosewood and maple center strips, bound ebony fingerboard. Elaborate inlay on the fingerboard and headstock, in green abalone and mother of pearl. |
| Frets | Narrow, vintage style frets with some wear in the lower positions. 12 frets to the body. |
| Body | Parlor type body design, with Brazilian rosewood back and sides, spruce top, ebony bridge, mother of pearl and abalone binding. Some play wear on the top. Long ago, a crack on the treble side was repaired. The Larson brothers used a unique pyramid-scalloped bracing pattern and built the backs under tension. |
| Finish | Nitrocellulose lacquer finish in good condition. |
| Hardware/electronics | Strip tuning gears with replacement pearlescent buttons. |
| Playability/Action | The action is somewhat high, the bridge has been shaved and the saddle is low. However it is in good playable condition. |
