Deering Goodtime Rare Bird Alert!
The Deering Goodtime open back banjo, “Rare Bird Alert Package”
The Deering Banjo Company introduces the latest in Steve Martin inspired Goodtime banjos. The new Rare Bird Alert Goodtime banjos are now available and include a full accessory package.
Included with the banjo are:
- Deering deluxe gig bag
- banjo strap
- electronic tuner
- set of picks
- Steve Martin’s Rare Bird CD plus instructional book.
Most banjo players you meet will tell you they saw a banjo player in a concert and immediately ran out and bought their first banjo. They were hooked for life !
For these people we need an affordable and playable banjo that sounds good; The Goodtime banjo is a superb starter banjo: and Deering put together “The Rare Bird Alert Package” into a complete kit for any beginner.
In early 2012, Steve Martin allowed Deering to continue the association of the Deering Goodtime banjo with the Steve Martin touring band. The Earlier “Crow Package” has been revamped into the “Rare Bird Alert package”
The headstock logo design was inspired by the cover of Steve Martin’s Grammy nominated CD, Rare Bird Alert. The fingerboard has the standard Goodtime hardwood, bow-tie inlays. The banjo is crafted out of eastern American maple with a violin grade 3-ply maple rim.
The Rare Bird Alert kit is available with open-back or resonator models.
Total price for the entire open-back package runs $499.00
Total price for the entire resonator package runs $649.00
Full setup is included: Nut height, head tension set at G#, capo tacks installed at 7, 9 and 10th fret, action adjusted and complete checkover. You get this banjo in fully playable condition…not just out of the box but as with all of our banjos, it is thoroughly setup to professional standards.
Note: we also carry the regular Goodtime open back at the standard price of $389 but when I “do the math” on the extras included: at $499 the Rare Bird Alert Package is a sensible purchase and good value.
