This is a lovely crossover banjo for a mix of bluegrass and old time finger style playing. At 8 lb it is about 4 to 5 pounds lighter than most flathead tone ring bluegrass banjos.
|Serial Number||356963, built during 1965 at the Gibson plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan.|
|Pricing||$1,795.00 CAD with late 1960′s Japanese hardshell case.|
|Neck||Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard.|
|Frets||Recently dressed by Grant.|
|Body||Mahogany resonator, maple rim. Brass rod tone ring fitted to a Gibson Mastertone style 1 piece zinc flange.|
|Finish||The finish is near perfect; it is rare to find one of these banjos that has not been mistreated and abused. Other than minor lacquer checking, this banjo is near mint.|
|Hardware/electronics||All hardware, finish and tuners are original.|
|Playability/Action||Set up and ready to go. Grant has installed a new head and dressed the frets.|
