1964 Gibson J-50 Domenic Troiano Session Guitar (consignment) SOLD

Here’s a guitar with history. This Gibson J-50 in natural was owned by the late, great Domenic Troiano and was used by him on many recording sessions. It’s in great playing condition and ready for use, with no appreciable fret wear and a decent setup.

The Gibson J-50 was introduced in 1947, with one detail differentiating it from the J-45 – the top has a natural finish, instead of a sunburst. Aside from the top finish, the two models are identical. The J-45 was out of production between 1982 and 1984, but the J-50 was discontinued in 1982.

The J-50, like the J-45, features a Spruce top, Mahogany back, sides and neck, and Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. In the early 1960s, Gibson used an adjustable bridge, with the saddle element being either ceramic or rosewood. On this guitar, the saddle is rosewood. The guitar is missing its pickguard, and the original Kluson style strip tuners have been replaced with Grover Roto-Matic models.

Serial Number: 236087, built during 1964 at Gibson’s historic plant in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Pricing:$3,000.00 Canadian with original fibre case. SOLD
