Comments Today we’re looking at a Dave Fox Roasted Maple Slope Shoulder Dreadnought.

A take on the Gibson SJ, this fine piece comes from Dave Fox’s shop in Peterborough, Ontario. It’s got a bright, solid tone with lots of sustain and overtone; adirondack spruce and maple make for a pretty bright pairing with lots of projection.

The ‘baked’ maple is very attractive and the curls really jump out. The sunburst finish is very well executed, and the spalted maple rosette is a thing of beauty. This is a really attractive, good sounding instrument.

Serial Number 024, built during 2012 in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
