We see a number of 12-string guitars, and this one by William Laskin is exceptional. Dating to his Toronto shop in 1976, this wonderful guitar is simply adorned with an engraved inlay of a Canada Goose.
Classic timeless styling. The Huss & Dalton TOM-R combines traditional flat-top construction with the red spruce bracing used in all Huss & Daltons. This guitar is especially suited for finger-style players or flatpickers with a lighter touch, yet holds up to vigorous strumming when the performance becomes more intense. The even response and airy, shimmery qualities the OM has always been known for are maintained and expanded on in the Huss & Dalton TOM-R.
The Guild Starfire IV first appeared in 1963 as a semi-solid version of the Starfire I, II and III think hollow models dating to 1960. The Starfire V and V I models were further upgrades, with extra binding and inlay. Obviously taking cues from the ES-335, the Guild Starfire IV featured a body of Maple or Mahogany laminate and matching center block and neck with rosewood fingerboard. In the 1970’s some differences started to creep in. Most of the Starfire IV models have a bound rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers.
Here is a lovely tenor ukulele built by Kanile’a in Hawaii during 2007. The label identifies it as a Custom T, so the original purchaser specified the woods and materials. The Kanile’a company in Kane’ohe, Hawaii produces some of the nicest ukuleles we see. This Kanile’a Koa Custom T Tenor ukulele is an excellent example of their work. Built by master luthier Joseph Souza these are very well made, professional grade instruments.

MORE →Flamenco has very deep roots in Spanish culture and there have been many influential Spanish builders of both and Flamenco and Classical guitars. There are two basic types of Flamenco models, Blanca and Negra – light and dark. Flamenco Blanca guitars are typically built using Cypress for the back and sides, a light, brilliant wood while Flamenco Negra instruments often use Palisandro, more commonly known as Rosewood.
