❌SOLD❌ Hagstrom Swede Mahogany, 1973

Built from 1970 to 1982 at the Alvdalen, Sweden plant, the Hagstrom Swede was a major step for the Swedish builder and this Mahogany example illustrates how good these guitars were. Before evolving into the 1979 set-neck Super Swede, the Swede used a bolt-on design and did not have a zero fret. This example dates to 1973 and was 44th in its production batch.

❌SOLD❌ Hagstrom Super Swede Sunburst, 1983

The Hagstrom Super Swede, built from 1979 until Hagstrom closed in 1983, was the last of the top quality guitars from the venerable Swedish builder. The original Swede used a bolt-on neck, and one of the Super Swede’s upgrades is a set neck.   This Super Swede dates to 1983 at the Hagstrom Alvaden plant, and features a dark red sunburst.  It is in overall very good condition, and is complete and original except for the case – a Japanese hard shell case is included. The body and neck are solid maple, and the bound fingerboard is Indian Rosewood.

❌SOLD❌ Hagstrom Jimmy Archtop Electric Guitar Sunburst, 1977

Considered one of their finest guitars, the Hagstrom Jimmy archtop electric was designed by Jimmy D’Aquisto, the renowned successor to John D’Angelico. In 1969, Karl Erik Hagstrom was able to bring James D’Aquisto to Sweden to design and prototype guitars. Working at the Hagstrom Bjarton plant in Bjärnum, the Jimmy was laid out and ten guitars were built. Subsequently, about 480 were produced, of a more or less conventional design using a hollow 16 inch wide body with pair of F-holes and two pickups. Production ended when the Bjarton plant closed.

❌SOLD❌ Hagstrom Jimmy James D'Aquisto Archtop, 1977

Designed by James D’Aquisto, The Hagstrom Jimmy was built in Sweden from 1969 to 1979 in two major versions – with an oval soundhole and a single neck-mounted pickup, or with traditional F-holes as seen here. This example of the Hagstrom Jimmy F-hole archtop was built around 1977, in the second variation of that model. In 1976, the bodies became all laminated birch (they had been laminated spruce), with birch for the neck, block inlays and rosewood fingerboard.
