The Valley Arts Brent Mason Signature Custom Pro is based on Mason’s 1968 Fender Telecaster, modified over the years to meet the requirements of a top session player. Introduced in 2004, the Brent Mason model was built for only a few years, after Valley Arts had been purchased by Gibson with a small retail and construction space in Nashville.

Here’s an unusual piece – a Mayones Regius Pepper 7 String neck-through model with Trans Black ‘Eye’ Poplar top, hand built during 2012 at the Mayones shop in Gdansk, Poland. Mayones has been building higher end instruments since 1982 and while they offer a range of ‘standard’ guitar and bass models, they also offer custom builds through their Custom Shop and a build-to-order programme.

❌SOLD❌ Ampeg ASB-1 Devil Bass Scroll Head Red and Black, 1967

The Ampeg ASB-1 Devil Bass, and its fretless sibling the AUSB-1 was built by Ampeg designer Mike Roman from late 1966 to 1967. It featured the typical Ampeg ‘Scroll Head’ design, heavily influenced by traditional upright acoustic basses. However, that’s about as far as similarities with acoustic basses went.

This David Nichols OO style guitar demonstrates Nichol’s high degree of familiarity with pearl inlay – it looks like it was easy for the builder to do, a sure sign that it isn’t. This David Nichols OO style guitar is a great example. Dave Nichols has spent decades doing custom inlay work, including a lot for the Martin Guitar company, and he’s chosen the classic designs and here, the ‘Style 41’ inlay set executed in Mother of Pearl and Abalone.

The Martin OM-42 is a fantastic guitar, based on the classic and very successful OM or Orchestra Model introduced in the very early 1930’s as banjo players migrated to guitar. It is extremely well-balanced and quite loud – an excellent choice for both fingerstyle and flatpicking, in both solo and ensemble contexts.

This Gibson GoldTop Les Paul Classic Limited Edition is from 2017, with a Bigsby B7 unit added, apparently at the factory using Vibramate adapters, and with locking Grover RotoMatic tuners. Vibramate makes a number of adapters that allow reversible installation of US-made Bigsby products onto a wide range of guitar models, without permanent modifications to the instrument.
