Here we have a lovely Josh House 000 model built in May of 2019 with Mahogany for the top, sides, back and neck, and Ziricote for the bridge, head plate and fingerboard. This Josh House 000 is a very well built guitar with a simple appearance. The body and neck are Mahogany with Spruce bracing for the top and back. The top uses solid linings, the back linings are reverse-kerfed and it’s very cleanly built inside. On the inside of the top, to the bass side of the fingerboard tag, there’s a hand-written note “Built by Josh House May 2019”.

Here is a rarity – a Patt Lister Classical Guitar built in Collingwood, Ontario during 1970 and featuring a lattice braced back and concentric fan braced top. Here is a rarity – a Patt Lister Classical Guitar built in Collingwood, Ontario during 1970 and featuring a lattice braced back and concentric fan braced top. This Patt Lister Classical guitar uses a Red Cedar top paired with Maple for the sides and back, with Spanish Cedar for the neck and Spruce for the tall top and back bracing. The fingerboard is Ebony, while both the bridge and head plate are Indian Rosewood.

It’s fairly unusual to see a Mark Kett guitar for sale. His order book currently extends to 2021, so new guitars don’t appear in shops. His custom inlay work is more visible, as it appears on guitars by other builders including Sergei de Jonge, David Wren, Bourgeois Guitars, Linda Manzer, Frank Brothers, Marc Beneteau, and many others. His work was included in the ‘Group of Seven’ guitar set at the McMichael Gallery.

Josh House builds custom acoustic guitars from his shop in Goderich, Ontario. After developing an interest in guitar playing, in 2003 he attended the guitar building courses run by Sergei de Jonge and from there has continued building and learning. His instruments are very well designed, built and finished.
