This limited edition Larrivee L-03 Silver Oak with a Bearclaw Sitka Spruce top dates to early 2008 in Vancouver, BC and is in great condition with its original hard shell case. Larrivee names the highly figured back and side wood as Silver Oak, while its proper name is Grievella Robusta, also called Australian Lacewood – it is not actually an Oak.

Here is a Halcyon Grand Auditorium Cutaway with a Lutz Spruce top and figured Walnut for the sides, back, body binding and head plate, and built by Ed Bond in East Vancouver around 2020. Aside from the Lutz Spruce and Figured Walnut, the body blocks and neck are Mahogany, with Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge.

The Larrivee L30 Classical Guitar Natural, now discontinued, is a straightforward Spruce and Rosewood classical guitar showing Jean Larrivee’s background in this genre. When learning guitar building, Larrivee spent a good amount of time with Edgar Monch during Monch’s time in Toronto, and learned much about guitar construction from him.

This Larrivee LV-09 Steel String Guitar dates to January of 2000, and pairs Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood. The Larrivee LV-09 uses the classically – influenced L-body developed in Toronto, but with a rounded Venetian cutaway. The classical influence extends to the 25.59 or 650mm scale length, the standard for most classical guitars.

The squared peghead with open gear tuners and bold rope rosette and top purfling enhance this classic aesthetic. Part of the Recording Series, the Larrivee OM 03R draws from the classic Orchestra Model design introduced in the early 1930s to aid the great shift to guitar by banjo players. The Larrivee OM 03R is built using traditional materials including a Sitka Spruce top with Herringbone purfling and rosette, Indian Rosewood for the back sides and head plate, Mahogany for the body blocks and neck, with Ebony for the bridge and bound fingerboard. The body binding is Maple while, in this period, the fingerboard binding is grained ivoroid. The finish is natural satin.
