The Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette was the first production Music Man design for Ernie Ball in 1986 and has proved itself versatile, popular and reliable.

Using an contoured, bevelled Alder body paired with a 5-bolt 24-fret Maple neck with either Maple or Rosewood fingerboard, the Music Man Silhouette carries a pair of DiMarzio PAF humbucking pickups with a singe coil DiMarzio in the center position. Locking Schaller tuners, a compensated nut and Ernie Ball Music Man Vintage style trem bridge (hard tail is optional) round out the hardware. The control and pickup cavities are coated with shielding paint, and the pickguard is aluminum lined to reduce unwanted noise and interference.

For finishes, the Silhouette is available in black or the white shown here, with an optional colour-matched headstock. The rear of the neck is the EBMM waxed, gunstock oil finish that works so well.

The Ernie Ball Music Man Silhouette is a great sounding, very comfortable guitar to play and is well worth checking out. A hard-shell Ernie Ball Music Man case is included.

Ernie Ball Music Man instruments are built in San Luis Opisbo, USA.  The Music Man lineup started in 1971 as a joint venture between Leo Fender, Tom Walker and Forrest White, originally under the name Tri-Sonix but by 1974 was formally named Music Man.   Its first product was amplifiers, and they had a number of prominent endorsements, including Eric Clapton.   One of their first big ads was Clapton holding a Gibson Explorer plugged into one or three; Music Man stacks;  in a concurrent interview he said that Cream could have used Music Man amps.  Johnny Winter and Albert Lee also used these amps.   In 1976 the first basses appeared, the StingRay.    By 1984, however, the original Music Man company folded due to low sales and was sold to Ernie Ball.
