❌SOLD❌ Gibson SJ-100 Jumbo Steel String Guitar Sunburst, 2013

Instrument Categories: , ,

The Gibson SJ-100 hearkens back to the early Super Jumbo flat-tops built between 1939 and 1943. While it shares the body shape of the famous J-200, it has modest decoration and most importantly, uses Mahogany instead of Maple for the back, sides and neck. The tops are Sitka Spruce with Indian Rosewood for the fingerboard and bridge on both versions.

While the label on this guitar reads “SJ-100”, this model is often referred to as the “1941 SJ-100” because it’s based on a 1941 example and sports a bridge design unique to that year. Built at the Gibson Acoustic plant in Bozeman, Montana, the SJ-100 is a great guitar, with the full sound of the Super Jumbo body but with extra warmth from the Mahogany body.

The overall aesthetic is authentically vintage, with the dot position markers, terraced bridge, striped pickguard, open gear tuners with creme plastic buttons and vintage sunburst.

This example dates to February 20, 2013 and is in very nice condition. There is some minor play. It plays very well, and like nearly all modern Gibsons carries an LR Baggs pickup system with controls discreetly mounted in the soundhole.

The original hard shell case is included.
