❌SOLD❌ Harmony Rocket H54 Thinline Archtop Electric Sunburst 1965

Once there were thousands of guitars like this Harmony Rocket, found in many homes across North America. The Harmony company of Chicago was for a time the largest musical instrument maker in the USA. That ranking also made them the largest in the world.

Intended to appeal to the beginner and interested amateur, the Harmony Rocket was a quality instrument and sold to the masses in all kinds of stores and catalogs. Many have disappeared or been destroyed over the years, but some are still in good working order.

The basic design is a single cutaway, thin archtop F hole body made of maple laminate, with poplar or maple neck and ‘ebonized’ maple fingerboard. The neck has a fixed, non-adjustable steel stiffening rod.

This Harmony Rocket dates to 1965 and is in largely original, rather good condition. The cherry sunburst finish is in good shape, still quite glossy, and has few marks. The single-layer white pickguard has a crack next to the support bracket, but the Harmony logo is still complete.

The original bridge saddle would have been a rosewood bar, and this has been replaced with a high quality, adjustable tune-o-matic type bridge by Gotoh. The tuners are likely Gotoh vintage Kluson strip style replacements. The original strip gears would have not had covers, and Klusons of the time would have had text lines on the covers. The front ferrules were not installed.

The pickups are original gold foil deArmond single coil models on wooden pads, wired to a selector switch and individual volume and tone controls.

This guitar is in unexpectedly good condition, plays well and sounds great. A non-original hard shell case is included.
