Part of Jackson’s Pro series, the Jackson SL3MG Soloist was made in Japan and used a neck-through-body design, with Maple for the neck and center and Alder for the wings. They are very well made, and more affordable than US-built Jackson models.
Jackson Guitars began in 1980 as an outgrowth of the Charvel repair shop in Glendora, California. It had become a custom center for the emerging Metal scene, and Grover Jackson purchased the shop from Wayne Charvel. The first ‘official’ Jackson was a fully custom design for Randy Rhoads, and the rest is history. The company is now owned by Fender Musical Instrument Corporation, who operate and distribute it along with a number of other brands including Gretsch and of couse Fender. This is generally a good thing, because quality standards have been maintained or improved on all those lines.
The Jackson SL3MG uses the ‘Super Strat’ concept, with a Floyd Rose locking trem system, and a pair of humbuckers. The scale length is a full 25.5 inches (648mm), and the nut width 1.6875 inches (43mm).
This example is a Jackson SL3MG in Green Swirl finish, built during 2011 and in excellent condition in every respect. Originally, it came with EMG pickups but these have been replaced. The neck pickup is now a DiMarzio Evolution, and the bridge a DiMarzio Double Whammy. The original pickups are not included.
This particular guitar has been completely set up and maintained in our shop and plays very well. It has no appreciable wear. The Green Swirl finish is definitely eye-catching.
The original rectangular molded hardshell case is included, with all hang tags.
