Ramírez Conservatorio Concert Classical Guitar featuring Gordon O’Brien

Brand:

Instrument Categories: ,

We’re continuing our review of the Ramírez guitar line, featuring Gordon O’Brien and Grant MacNeill. In this sequence Gordon and Grant are looking at the innovative Ramírez Conservatorio Concert Classical Guitar.

The Ramírez Conservatorio Concert Classical Guitar is built entirely in the Ramírez workshop, and while it is definitely not an ‘entry level’ instrument, it is the entry point for workshop-built guitars. The next step is the 1a Professional models, at much higher prices.

These instruments feature all solid wood construction, an 8 top-strut fan brace pattern also found on the Ramírez SPR model, a unique custom soundhole rope-motif rosette and custom Ramírez label.

Specific to the Conservatorio model, the top and back plates extend beyond the sides and are not bound, as on instruments in the violin family. This innovative ‘fiddle edge’ construction technique from Amalia Ramirez removes the need for solid or kerfed lining strips and significantly increases the vibrating surface area of the top.
