The Wildwood Heirloom traditional open-back banjo is handmade by master luthier Mark Platin in Bend, Oregon, and features a Tubaphone style tone ring and engraved vintage theme inlays.

The Wildwood Heirloom pot is built around Wildwood’s turned rock-maple block rim, fitted with a brass Tubaphone replica tone ring and Waverly tailpiece. This banjo also has the historic Vega banjo ‘bracket band’ upgrade.

Wildwood ‘block-rims’ are very different from standard, laminate rims. Block-rims are machined from solid rock maple blocks, drastically reducing glue voids and increasing mass. The effect is obvious as soon as you play one. The volume, and clarity of the sound are all due to the solid nature of these rims. Each Wildwood rim is machined to exacting specifications, bound and purfled to match the neck and stained to match the color of the neck.

The neck is AAA curly maple with ebony fingerboard and peg head overlay. The neck and rim binding is a blend of Ivoroid binding and wood purfling.

The fretboard and peghead features engraved vintage-style mother of pearl inlays done in the tradition of the historic Fairbanks banjos.

Built in 2008, this example of the Wildwood Heirloom appears to be almost unplayed and is in excellent condition and comes with hardshell case.
