S/N: 33159, built during 1927 at the Martin shop in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
The Martin 00-21 was built for 98 years, from 1898 to 1996. It used the 00 size body with a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and an unbound fingerboard. Until 1947, the fingerboard was ebony, and was rosewood until the end of production. Until 1970, 'Rosewood' meant Brazilian Rosewood; in that year Martin shifted towards Indian Rosewood because of embargoes on the use of Brazilian.
This Martin 00-21 dates to 1927, the first year this model was braced for steel strings. It was built at the Martin shop in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, and was completely refinished long ago. The neck has been reset, as is eventually necessary on almost all steel string guitars and it is fully playable. A pickguard has been added, originally these guitars did not have pickguards. It has a warm, sparkling tone. An oversized Japanese hardshell case is included.
