S/N: 80208030, built during 2008 at the Gibson plant in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Gibson A9 mandolin design dates back to 1902 and with the F style, were a radical departure from traditional, bowl backed european style mandolins. The A style was the plainest or simplest of the new designs, and features a pronounced 'teardrop' shape body, with a carved, arched spruce top and carved arched maple back. The neck is maple with ebony fingerboard. Originally, these had an oval soundhole and the F-holes seen on almost all 'modern' archtop instruments started to appear around 1934.

This Gibson A9 mandolin example dates to 2008, and has a Sitka spruce top and satin sunburst finish. It is in overall good condition with just a few small dings and light to moderate fretwear. This instrument has been played, but cared for. A black hardshell TKL case, in good condition with a couple of stickers from local bluegrass festivals, is included.
