Cadillac Green Gretsch G6196T Country Club

Comments Presenting – the Cadillac Green Gretsch G6196T Country Club!

Occupying a position near the top of the Gretsch line since its introduction in 1954, the Country Club is often overshadowed by its slightly younger (1955) sibling, the White Falcon. While the two share many common features – body shape and size, scale length, much hardware – the Country Club features a solid spruce top, pushing it closer to the Gibson models like the Super 400.

Serial Number JT13010525. Built in the Gretsch Terada (Japan) plant during January 2013; production number 525.
Pricing $3749.99 Canadian Dollars with Gretsch hardshell archtop case.
Neck Maple neck with multi-bound ebony fingerboard; mother of pearl ‘neo-classic’ position markers. 25.5 inch scale length, 1.6875 inch nut width, 12 inch fingerboard radius. Bound head, with black headplate, GRETSCH logo inlaid, no plaque.
Frets Medium jumbo frets, installed to go to the edge of the binding. This gives the maximum amount of playing surface.
Body Full size, 17″ body with single cutaway. Bound, oversize F-holes. Solid spruce top, laminated maple back and sides, sound post and parallel tone bars. Multiple layer binding on top, bound back.
Finish Gloss urethane in ‘Cadillac Green’.
Hardware/electronics Gold hardware everywhere! Gold Grover Imperial tuners with deco ‘stairstep’ buttons; gold ‘Space Control’ roller bridge on ebony base; gold Bigsby B6G unit with flat handle; High-Sensitive Filter ‘Tron pickups, master volume and individual volume controls, pickup selector, tone selector, and standby switch. Gold knurled strap buttons.
Playability/Action This is just a joy to play. There’s plenty of space to move the action around to suit, but out of the box, it’s very close to ready to go. The zero fret makes the lower position action low and consistent, and the frets going to the edge of the binding gives a surprising amount more playing area.
Case Original Gretsch-logo hardshell, archtop case included.
