There have been many stellar archtop guitar builders, but like the modern mandolin, it was invented by Orville Gibson in the closing days of the 19th century. In the mid 1950’s, Gibson introduced the Thinline archtop with the Byrdland and a few years later the semi-hollow ES-335. These designs are the basis for most modern archtop and thinline guitars. The Twelfth Fret carries a range of new, high quality archtops and thinline guitars. We set up instruments to the player’s requirements and we ship worldwide.
