| Yes, this really is an Adirondack
Angel and the Brazilian Bazooka ... the OM-150 and D-150 from the Lewiston
Maine workshop of Dana Bourgeois! After years of selling instruments
from this gifted luthier I've come to realize the affinity this man has
with the Adirondack/Brazilian rosewood combination ... in both his fingerstyle
and flatpicking guitars!
After about twenty seconds of playing this
OM-150 I realized that I was in the presence of a guitar at a whole different
level. Dana really kicks things up a notch for the 150 series of
instruments. The Master grade Adirondack top & premium Brazilian
rosewood ... the polished bone saddle, bone nut & bone bridge pins
... the pyramid ebony bridge and delicately voiced top braces ... all add
up to create an instrument with a wonderfully sweet note fundamental,
superb articulation, followed by a fountain of interesting partials!!!
What can you say about Dana's D-150 model?
It is like being strapped onto a thoroughbred horse that is feeling frisky!
You've got to hold onto these things with both hands or they'll get away
from you! Dig in with a heavy tortoiseshell pick as hard as you want.
Your banjo player is loud? HA! I laugh at your banjo player!
This D-150 has an absolutely crushing overall presence that is supported
by a meaty note core with exceptional clarity & layer upon layer of
overtones! Brazilian Bazooka indeed!!! |
