| We have just received a couple of dreadnoughts
from Dana Bourgeois' Lewiston Maine workshop that can only be described
as absolutely CRUSHING!!!
The first instrument that I'll review is this
beeautiful DB Signature! I mean LOOK at this thing will you!
It is exquisitely simple aesthetically and yet ... sooooo luscious looking!!!
The custom Bourgeois herringbone top marquetry, tasteful diamond
& square fingerboard inlays, highly beveled tortoiseshell pickguard,
burnished ebony belly bridge, gold plated precision Waverly
tuners with ebony buttons, premium Adirondack top and that utterly
SUPERB Madagascar rosewood back & sides ... all combine to create a
particularly classic appearance!!!
Madagascar rosewood, believe it or not,
is at this point in time, actually more difficult to procure than
CITIES approved Brazilian rosewood ... especially sets like this with massive
colour depth and distinct "Rio" grain patterns! This dense tonewood
has a very bell-like tap tone reminiscent of true Dalbergia Nigra and imparts
that sweet upper midrange and well defined attack transient heard in the
best golden era dreads! |
