Collings SJ Guitar
When Bill Collings decides to make something,  as we have all come to know,  he doesn't mess around!  So when he decided to tackle the task of creating a 'small jumbo' that would offer a different sonic slant to the Collings tone palette,  it was no surprise that the workmanship was immaculate and the wood selection of the highest standards.

The Collings SJ pictured on this page features a faultless natural gloss finish that contrasts nicely with an inlaid ebony fingerboard,  bound ebony peghead overlay and sculpted ebony bridge.  The highly polished and beveled 'tortoiseshell' pickguard adds a touch of retro aesthetic to Bill Collings' modern take on this curvaceous body design!

So what does the sound of a Collings SJ have to offer?  Well,  as opposed to the cardboard-like attack of jumbos from the '60s and '70s,  this model sounds BIG but articulate.  You hit the note,  hear the snap of the attack transient which blooms into a solid note fundamental and then explodes into a shower of partials.  This is simply a maple steel string guitar at its BEST!!!!!
