| What is it about an archtop jazz guitar with
a natural Blonde finish and ebony appointments that is so irresistable!
There is of course the fact that a builder has to use his/her best woods
... no mineral staining and only the best figure ... because there is no
dark sunburst to hide the flaws. I guess there is also the
fact that there are just not a lot of them out there. By far the
majority of archtops do have some kind of stain or sunburst, so when
a natural one shows up, it is unique ... a welcome change!
Of course looks alone do not make a great instrument.
A jazz guitar lives or dies by it's sound and playability.
Anyone who has had the opportunity to play out with one of these 16" Eastman
guitars knows that they are easy to manoevre and sound fantastic!
And why not? This is an all solid wood, true carved and hand
graduated instrument ... not laminate, not pressed solid wood,
not even pressed solid wood that has then been thinned around the recurve
... TRUE carved and graduated! Heck, these people have been
crafting violins for a decade, they should know how to carve a top
& back! Plug this instrument into a nice closed-back amp and
be prepared to give your smile a bit of a workout!!! |
