Eastman MDC805 Mandocello
The mandocello first became popularized in the early 1900's at which point it often found a home in the many mandolin orchestras of the time.  This guitar sized instrument is generally tuned an octave below the mandola ... ie. CC-GG-dd-aa.

The most prominent modern musician to perform & record with the mandocello is David Grisman who has utilized this profound sounding mandolin-family instrument on many recordings.   Both the Modern Mandolin Quartet and the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble have also added some low end to their recordings & performances using the mandocello as well.

.
Having mastered the art of making carved top guitars and mandolins,  it was a natural transition for Eastman Strings to introduce a mandocello into their already extensive line.  The MDC805 displays all of the features that have made this company successful,  namely ... all solid wood construction with true hand carved & graduated top & back plates,  rich finishes and absolutely stunning tone!
