Fender VG Strat

Fender felt very strongly that the new VG Strat should be kept "simple & intuitively usable" and in my opinion succeeded.  From a player's standpoint,  this instrument is just a normal Strat with two additional knobs! These two additional knobs on the VG Strat's pickguard are a "Mode Control" and a "Tuning Function".

The Mode Control governs five distinct modeling modes: Normal,  Modeled Strat,  Tele,  Humbucking pickups and Acoustic.  In the "Normal" mode,  the guitar's three single-coil pickups bypass the VG circuit,  for a straight Strat guitar sound.

The Tuning Function knob lets guitarists choose among five alternative tunings;  normal,  drop D,  open G,  D modal & Baritone as well as a twelve string sound.  Since the player doesn't have to turn a single tuning key,  all of these instant tuning changes keep the same string tension.

Even better,  the VG Strat delivers level,  balanced tone & volume across all of these remarkable functions so that guitarists needn't continually readjust amp settings AND if your battery dies,  you can revert to just the stock passive Stratocaster!

Five Guitar Tone Banks

1/ Normal (N): In this non-modeling mode, your guitar uses it's three standard Strat pickups only and plays like a standard Stratocaster®guitar.

2/ Modeled Stratocaster (S): In this modeling mode, your guitar plays with the sound of a slightly different Stratocaster tone, but with some new possibilities. You now have the option of a 12-string sound or several different alternate tunings .

3/ Telecaster (T): In this modeling mode, the guitar plays with the
sound of a Telecaster guitar. The 'snap' of the bridge position, the
'chirp' of the middle position, it's all there. And of course there's the
option of the 12-string sound and the alternate tunings.

4/ Humbucking Pickups (H): In this modeling mode, your guitar plays with the sound of two high output humbucking pickups; one in the neck position and one in the bridge position. This is the mode where you’ll find that oh-so desirable warm, full tone you’d expect from high end humbucking pickups.

5/ Acoustic (A): In this modeling mode, your guitar plays with the
warm, full sound of an acoustic guitar. In this position the blade
switch switches between various acoustic tones from the warmth of
a dreadnought to the bright, cutting sound of a resonator’s smooth
bluesy twang.
