| Joe Pass, Kenny Burrell, Joe Diorio, Toots Thielmans,
Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino, Herb Ellis, Howard Roberts, Jimmy Raney,
Pat Metheny ... all at one time in their careers played & recorded
with the venerable Gibson ES-175. Hey, it's almost quicker
to name jazz players who haven't performed with a 175!
Gibson introduced the "Electric Spanish ES-175",
aptly named for its initial $175.00 sell price, in 1949. This was
not only Gibson's first model with a Florentine cutaway, but also
one of the first guitars to be outfitted in 1957 with the new patent applied
for humbucking pickups!
Today's ES-175 is an accurate reproduction of
the original series, circa 1957 ... same dimensions & materials
and with the Gibson '57 Classic pickups ... that same clear warm jazz tone! |
