Gibson introduced its Robot Les Paul to much fanfare at the last NAMM trade
show and has started shipping limited numbers of them, including
this issue of Les Paul & SG in a striking Metallic Green finish.
So what is a "Robot Guitar"? Simply
put, it is a guitar that, with the simple push of a button,
tunes your instrument accurately automatically. We're not talking
about a simple on-board tuner. You push a button, strum the
open strings and watch while the special machine heads turn on their own
until the instrument is in tune ... and not just to standard tuning.
The Robot guitar has modes for tuning itself to DADGAD, open G, open
E, drop D, double drop D, Eb, has the ability for you
to program your own custom alternate tuning and a function for intonating
your guitar!
