Harrison Jazz Guitars : Custom Spalted Model GB

The Model GB comes stock with a carved spruce top, fully chambered tropical mahogany body with a single humbucker configuration ... but it is rare that luthier Douglas Harrison receives an order for this popular jazz guitar without at least a few of his custom upgrades. As a matter of fact, we have seen the Harrison GB with custom stains, a variety of scale lengths, numerous nut widths, with custom abalone trim & inlay, in a variety of figured & exotic woods ... even in a 7-string configuration!

This particular instrument was ordered by a good customer of ours and is a perfect case in point with its abundant custom features including a flamed maple body & neck, gold plated hardware, special patina stain, a spectacular spalted/flamed maple carved top and a double humbucker with bridge piezo electronic harness!!!

It is this special electronic harness that provides the sonic versatility that has appealed to so many of Mr. Harrison's customers. Of course the Duncan Jazz neck humbucker provides traditional lush thick jazz tones, but with a definite added element of clarity. Pull the bridge pickup into the mix and you get a more modern Frisell or Scofield edge, with added overtone content and precise enunciation of every note. The secret weapon of this instrument though, is the piezo bridge. Mr. Harrison designed a circuit that allows you to blend in the "acoustic" sound of the guitar with the magnetic pickups, creating an exceptionally wide pallet of very musical tones!
