| Since completing his apprenticeship with veteran
luthier Sergei de Jonge, Mark Kett has been a very busy person indeed!
His www.guitarjigs.com business
is enough to keep him busy on a full time basis. His new project,
Watt Custom
Guitars, with fellow luthier Alastair Miller is starting to take
off. Still, he carves out time to fabricate exquisite custom
flattop steel string guitars such as this!
Mark's genius is hunting down exotic tonewoods
and then creating totally unique instruments that are both visually appealing
& and sonically powerful! This new Advanced Parlor guitar is
a case in point.
The striking Bearclaw figured German spruce
top ... the dramatic grained Brazilian rosewood, the figured koa
soundhole rosette, the sculpted ebony bridge ... are all the foundation
of this unique musical instrument. On closer inspection,
the unusual walnut lattice braced back struts and Mark's ultra strong and
light weight composite bridge plate become evident ... details that possibly
account for the extraordinary response and exceptional dynamic breadth
of this expressive custom guitar!!! |
