| We've been lucky enough to have had some very
special Larrivee guitars come through our store over the last thirty years
and this one rates right up there with the best of them. I have played
a lot of Larrivee guitars over the years but this is the very first with
an Adirondack spruce top! Come to think of it, this is
the only D-60 I have ever seen with an Adirondack top and a quite breathtaking
set of Madagascar rosewood back & sides!

threads discussing the magic qualities of Red spruce harvested in the upper
elevations of the mountains in New York, New Hampshire, Maine,
Vermont and Quebec. The fact is that some builders really can get
a distinctive response from their instruments when utilizing this tonewood.
While the extra strength-to-weight ratio that this species often exhibits
can sometimes take a bit of extra time to really "open up" in a steel string
guitar, it is definitely worth the effort ... the results being superb
headroom and a positively explosive attack transient! |
