| What better way to celebrate 40 years of making
premium quality acoustic guitars than issuing a small run of very special
instruments utilizing handpicked tonewoods with features that give a tip
of the hat to the evolution of Larrivee guitars!
This new Limited Edition JCL from Larrivee Guitars
is essentially a reissue of the guitar they made for a brief period in
the Victoria B.C. shop circa 1982 ... with some older, and some newer
features thrown in! The "JCL" refers to the beautiful interwoven
initials of the builder that are tastefully inlaid in mother-of-pearl on
the rosewood peghead veneer, creating an almost Celtic Knot motif.
Larrivee guitars from this time period also featured Jean's classically
attractive mosaic soundhole rosette, clear pickguard, understated
rosewood body binding with side fillet, larger mother-of-pearl position
markers, rosewood bridge plate and precision Schaller M6 tuning machines!
This Limited Edition also features a couple of
specifications from the Toronto years, namely the handsome backstrip
marquetry and the "Alan Magee" label (also used until late '81 in Victoria)
... signed by Jean himself! |
