| This new instrument from Alastair Miller is a
refreshingly new take on a body size that was popular in the late 1800's
and early 1900's! Believe it or not, a guitar with a 14" lower
bout was considered quite large back then!
Alastair's streamlined modern interpretation of
this classic model features a "snakehead" plank headstock design with tastefully
understated inlay, a contemporary 1 11/16" nut width with super soft-V
neck profile, a striking spalted maple soundhole rosette, unadorned
burnished ebony fingerboard and of course this eye-popping set of premium
Ziricote!!!
I'm not sure of the last time I saw a top like
this. It has that look of a billet that has just been split ... not
the tiniest hint of grain runoff and every medullar ray and pore exposed
... especially rare in European spruce!!!
Combine Master Grade tonewoods with an artfully
applied thin French Polish finish, all constructed by a talented
luthier, and what do you get? A revitalized perspective on
a classic guitar design that propels both the looks and sound into the
twenty-first century! |
