| Alastair Miller is one of the brightest lights to hit
the Canadian guitar building scene in some time. He comes out of
the Sergei de Jonge line of builders, having completed de Jonge's
instrument building course, then on to formally apprentice with Sergei,
and ultimately building in his own shop here in Toronto.
The guitar I'm reviewing today sounded so good
when initially completed, that Alastair decided to keep it for a shop demonstration
instrument to show prospective clients ... and ended up generating
quite a number of private orders from it. I'm not surprised at the
reaction that this one created. It really is throwing a lot of sound,
even when played lightly!
This one really does stand toe-to-toe with any
Orchestra Model in the store and features a rare one piece Sitka top,
one piece tropical mahogany back, gloss lacquer finish, a gorgeous
feeling soft-V neck and many tone-layers that pique my interest every single
time I pick up this guitar!
Because of some very minor shop wear and a short
repaired hairline back check (now nearly invisible), Alastair is
selling this "shop guitar" as a used instrument ... at a very considerable
discount! |
