PRS Limited Edition Single Cutaway SC 245

Paul Reed Smith Guitars unveiled a limited run of solid body electrics featuring the new 1957/2008 pickups during the Experience PRS open house event in Stevensville, Maryland September 19. PRS acquired exclusive rights to the original pickup wire used in the most revered ‘50s era pickups in 2008, and 1957 was the year the humbucker was first commercially available, giving rise to the name for PRS Guitars’ newest and most exclusive pickup.

Three models are offered as part of the 1957/2008 Limited Run, the Custom 24, the McCarty and the SC 245. This special run is limited to 750 guitars, and is the only place outside of Private Stock where brand new old style McCarty models can be purchased.

The SC 245 is perfect for the more traditional single-cutaway players. The 24.5" scale length and vintage appointments make this instrument instantly comfortable to players who grew up using short scale guitars. The new 1957/2008 pickups and their placement under the strings give the instrument a voice that is classic, eminently recordable and gig ready. Check out Mike McAvan's mp3 that he recorded using this instrument ... crystal clear chimey rhythm tones on the left channel, with a very smooth overdriven single note passage on the right ... catch the extra little nasty edge Mike gets when he switches to the bridge pickup in the last ten seconds of the solo!
