| The original Stimer
pickup was used by none other than Django Reinhardt himself after WWII.
Today, the Stimer pickup has been reissued by France's Maurice Dupont,
one of the world's most respected builder of Selmer-style guitars!
These units are notoriously difficult to procure but we have managed to
secure six of them, and are offering them to Gypsy jazz players
who are tired of trying to get a great amplified sound!
Maurice Dupont has faithfully reproduced
the pickup housing, magnet and single coil of the original Stimer
which features an on board volume control, a 1/8" to 1/4" removable
cord and a money clip style bracket that firmly holds the pickup in place!
I plugged this unit into a number of different
amps that have a nice flat response and found that with the pickup volume
full up, I could achieve a great tone for single note solo work ...
and when I backed off the volume a bit and chopped out some aggressive
rhythm it really achieved that classic Django tonality! |
