When we receive a delivery from James Trussart guitars, a small crowd is bound to form. Like my colleagues, I can't help but get excited as  as the case is opened for the first time. Every Trussart guitar we get is special in its own way. From the detailed engravings, to the different pickup combinations, to the unique resonance of the body, every single one has a bold and expressive personality of it's own. Today we are featuring just such a guitar: the Deluxe SteelCaster.

From time to time, I try to imagine what it must be like to design a guitar. Not just for myself, but a guitar that other players would enjoy as well. It doesn't take long for one specific thought to descend upon my imaginary blueprints: we guitar players are a fickle bunch! We like guitars that feel comfortable and familiar. We like to know how to use the controls without needing to think about it. We like guitars that remind us of what our heroes used to play. But we also want something new. Something unique that will distinguish itself from our friend's guitars. Something unlike anything anyone has seen before.

With all of this in mind, I turn and look at this Trussart Deluxe SteelCaster with an even greater sense of admiration. Trussart has done it! This guitar has a bold and unique look: no doubt about it. But when I pick it up and start playing, I feel right at home. At it's core, the SteelCaster feels and plays like any great telecaster: it's the ultimate workhorse guitar.

Over the past 30 years, James Trussart has developed an impressive reputation. His instruments get a lot of attention because of their looks, but it's the sound that keeps players coming back. The metal hollow body design creates a different kind of warmth and sustain than we're used to. There is a clarity to the attack transient that most other hollow body guitars lose. Anyone who has ever played a resonator guitar will instantly recognize the distinct overtones present in the Deluxe SteelCaster. Once again, Trussart shows us a guitar that is unique while being familiar.
