| Was this guitar a long time coming?
Very definitely. Was it worth the wait? Oh yeah!!!
This instrument is stunning in every sense
of the word! The understated earthy aesthetic of the Cocobolo
bindings, ebony tuner buttons and unadorned fingerboard help
highlight the inimitable Alberico 'folded ribbon' rosette motif.
I absolutely love the overall warm, golden, almost ocher glow
that this instrument seems to radiate!
As usual, the tonewood selection and
build quality of this Alberico is absolutely faultless. Each joint
is crisp and well executed. Every design line flows into the next.
The finish is thinly applied but protective; finely buffed to achieve
good visual depth, but again, scrupulous in its application.
The Western Red cedar top helps give this
instrument its complex voice. Fabrizio's guitars always have a wonderful
layered sound; meaty note fundamentals; a wide array of partials
ringing in sympathy with different chord voicings; a complex shower
of overtones. The cedar top on this one adds spice to
the proven Alberico recipe and the ingenious side port throws just a bit
more sound up at the player without compromising any forward sonic thrust!
Worth waiting for? You'd better believe
it!!! |
