| This particular guitar is made from
the same billet of spruce and the same flitch of Cocobolo as the model
4G featured in last February's Acoustic Guitar Magazine (owned by Henry
Kaiser). Since that article hit the stands orders have been pouring
into Allan's shop, so much so that it is hard for us to get an instrument
from this busy luthier!
In today's market full of countless variations
of handmade guitars, many luthiers find it really difficult
to stand out from the pack ... not so with Allan Beardsell. This
builder is so full of creative ideas, both from a sonic and aesthetic perspective,
that he just naturally attracts a lot of attention!
And you know what? He deserves a lot
of attention. This instrument sounds huge. No, this instrument
sounds HUGE. No, this instrument sounds HUUUUUUUUGE!!!!!
No ... OK, OK, you get the idea. This instrument is not just
throwing a lot of sound. It is crisp, articulate and has many
(many) layers of partials to make things interesting. I love it!!!
Henry Kaiser noticed this listing on-line and
spontaneously sent us this additional comment: "My Beardsell, that is apparently
the same as this one, is one of the best sounding guitars that I have ever
experienced. In fact I brought it to show to my pal David Lindley and he
became very... very... well.... very angry and disturbed...
he swore and uttered various profanities. I asked why and he said that
it was the best-sounding acoustic he had ever played and he was disturbed
that it did not live with him. That is when the guitar was new; now,
many months later, it sounds even better. Hey! If someone out
there buys this guitar they should contact me through www.henrykaiser.net
and maybe we could
record some kind of duet piece with the two twin Beardsells, maybe
by mail or something? Whomever purchases this guitar will be very, very
happy." -HK
