| Red spruce grown in the
upper elevations of the Adirondack mountains apparently has quite a healthy
spring and summer growth as witnessed by the very strong grain lines and
super wide summer development. This makes for an extremely rigid
top that is noticeably lighter in weight than some other species.
This translates into a very responsive top tonewood that will take the
constant torque of a flattop steel-string bridge.
There seems to be a certain sonic magic
that happens when you match Adirondack spruce with Tropical mahogany;
a very appealing dry 'bark' in the midrange without the dark tonality that
muffles; a percussiveness to the attack; a shimmer surrounding
the note fundamental. This new model 4-G Beardsell is THE poster
guitar for the Adirondack / mahogany alchemy. I think this has to
be one of my favorite sounding guitars in our store currently!!!
